Here is a glossary of the main terms used in the Support Centre.
Administrator Account – The second level of the system, where the administrator can enrol students and allocate subscriptions to students for the course and, (if ordered), the Skill Evaluator tests.
Annual Licence – Sometimes referred to as the ‘Type-Net Annual Licence, this is a licence arrangement whereby you have access to the system for a year either with a capped number of subscriptions or with unlimited subscriptions. At the end of the year, if the licence is not renewed, students’ access to the course and Skill Evaluator (if ordered) will cease. The annual licence is usually purchased by customers with 50 or more students.
Certificate – The Certificate of Achievement available for students who have completed a Main Skill Evaluator Test, and have reached the pass mark (if set).
Course – The Typequick online learning. There are two Typequick courses – Typequick Professional and Typequick for Students.
Main Account – The top level of the system, where the Main Account Administrator can create Administrator Accounts (student groups) and allocate subscriptions to these accounts.
Main Test – The principal test in the Skill Evaluator system for which a score will be recorded and will count towards the award of the certificate.
Pay-by-User Licence – This is where a customer purchases a quantity of student course and/or Skill Evaluator test subscriptions. They use them by enrolling students as and when, without the need to pay an annual licence fee to maintain access to the products. When they have run out of subscriptions, they can choose to order some more. Subscriptions do not expire whilst they remain unallocated to a student. The Pay-by-User arrangement is usually for smaller numbers of students, and usually involves access at Administrator Account level only.
Practice Test – A test which a student will have the option of completing before attempting a Main Test. The Practice Test will be the same duration as the Main Test, but different text. A score will display on screen but the score will not be recorded in the Administration System. A certificate is not awarded for completing a Practice Test. A Practice Test is always available with a Main Test.
Skill Evaluator – the optional automated typing test system.
Student Group – the same thing as an Administrator Account.
Subscription – the ‘currency’ for the Typequick Administration system. One courseware subscription will allow one student to access one of the courses (e.g., Typequick Professional or Typequick for Students) usually for one year. One Skill Evaluator subscription will allow one student to attempt one Skill Evaluator test.
Warm-up Test – an opportunity to get used to the test format before taking a Main Test. The warm-up test will reveal a score at the end but will not be recorded in the Administration System. It is not compulsory to take the warm-up test before a Main Test. If a student completes a Warm-up Test but does not attempt the Main Test, then the next time they log in a Warm-up Test will not be available.
