‘e-type’ – the UK’s only recognised touch typing qualification
Type&Test has joined forces with BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT (formerly the British Computer Society) to bring you ‘e-type’ - a recognised touch typing qualification and the only one that appears on the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework.
e-type’s touch typing qualification tests are taken through the BCS’s network of Test Centres across the UK. You can find your nearest centre by clicking here. e-type consists of a combined package of Typequick courseware, specially branded for BCS, followed by automated typing tests, which will test your speed and accuracy, with a chance to pass at three grades. If you are successful, then you will receive the prestigious ‘BCS Certificate in Touch Typing’ qualification which will prove your skill level and which is valued by employers.
e-type is ideal for Schools as it provides pupils with a recognised touch typing qualification that earns school Performance Points and counts towards academic attainment targets.
e-type is also great for the FE and HE sectors as it attracts new students and is eligible for funding. e-type is an ideal accompaniment to PC User qualifications such as the European Computer Driving License (ECDL).
For individuals, it is a way of learning to touch type and a way of gaining a recognised touch typing qualification which employers increasingly look for.
The three grades of the e-type touch typing qualification are as follows:-
- Bronze – 20 words per minute (Level 1)
- Silver – 40 words per minute (Level 2)
- Gold - 60 words per minute (Level 2)
Each requires a 98% level of accuracy.
